A Brit of excitement makes things something of a Blur...

Yesterday was a great day. It was pancake day (I love pancakes and am the meanest tosser going. Fnar) and it was the Brit awards. Most years I mean to catch the Brits then don't but this year it was penned (not pencilled, penned) in my diary for ages in advance, on account of the fact that Blur were playing! Squee! I LOVE Blur. I'm that 90s kid who never moved on and still loves Blur.

As a teenager, my bedroom was a riot of indie band posters - Blur filled one wall, Oasis the other (I've always been indecisive) and the middle was a mish mash of the Charlatans, Ocean Colour Scene, Shed 7, Supergrass and whoever else I was feeling at the time. And I'm just not over it. These days it might be photos of friends and family on my walls and the odd nice picture, rather than posters and articles ripped from the pages of Big, Smash Hits, NME and Melody Maker but, oh those boys and their guitars are still in my heart. When Blur reformed for gigs back in 2009 I thought I might actually burst - especially when nearly all of them clashed with my hen do, wedding and honeymoon. Gutted. I managed the Newcastle gig two days before the wedding (and the day Michael Jackson died) and it was just amazing. So, post Brits I am hoping desperately that they tour again. What can I say?

Anyway, by the time I got to pancake flipping (like a pro. Did I mention that I toss like a badass?) and Brits watching I was in my pjs but here's what I wore earlier that day:

Dress: Tesco, Cardi: Asda, Belt and necklace: Accessorize, shoes Primark
I hadn't realised til I came to write this that I was dressed as a trolly dash. I bloody love this Asda cardi though cause I've never seen anyone in the same, it has cute flower detailing on the buttons and it looks vintage. No-one has ever suspected it for a supermarket purchase. And now you know my secret.

My sister gave me this wee fella for my birthday
Here are the shoes (cause it's what I iz about, innit?). They were £6 in Primark's sale. I do enjoy a bit of orange and on a brogue it's freakin' awesome. And on that note, I bid you goodnight.

A t-bar and a bow...and I digress

Like a bow tie bow. Not a bow. Like bending over. I'm not bending over. Little Scribbler don't bend over for no-one. Nuh-uh. That said, I am doing something distinctly weird in this picture...
Dress: Tesco, Shoes & Belt: New Look, Shirt: H&M
Kind of like I'm coming atcha head first. I don't know why. As far as I can tell you haven't done anything to offend me. On a side note, does anyone have any great, time free, suggestions for in between length hair? Mine is driving me batty right now and basically always looks like the above as I never have enough time to blow dry it so it always end up in a pancakey quifflet.

Back to the weird pose. I can only fathom that I decided I should do some fancy ass foot placement in order to showcase my lovely shoes. The shoes of the aforementioned bow. Bows are usually always cute in my book and these ones win extra awesome points for being shiny patent and trimmed with glitter. So far, so good. I'm also a big t-bar fan. The right t-bar that is - they can be pieces of nastiness fresh outta frump land when done wrong. However, the chunky high heel, peep toe, deep red colour and bow on these stop that. They're just so 'Come Dancing' and I fancy myself spinning around some swishy ballroom with a hottie and everyone knows that your chances of doing that increase hugely when you have t-bars. I like to think I'd be doing a fiery paso doble in these. Ole!

The shoes landed in my cabinet (yes, they're housed in the cabinet, not just the shoe closet) fresh outta New Look. I saw them in Look magazine while I was at a friend's place, went into New Look the next morning and there they were sitting in front of me! That NEVER happens to me. I see lush stuff in magazines and it never appears in shops. In fact, I've been emailing and tweeting Topshop recently as I'm lusting after a pair of boots that haven't appeared on their site yet. They haven't bothered their too-cool-for-school butts to reply to me. So I'll talk with my money and not spend it there. I'm increasingly intolerant of bad service in my old age...

Anyhoo, I've digressed again! The same day that I got these shoes, I got a pair in Primark that I saw in the same magazine. Gawd love Glasgow shops. I'll treat you to them soon too cos they're pure amazers...

Time for me to head off to my pal's hen do now! Yup, it's nearly gin o'clock.

I pledge my allegiance to SHOES!

Yay! Yay for shoes! Let's be clear, I work in shoes so I'm surrounded by them all the time and can't help getting obsessed by them. However, the wider shoe world must just see me coming and laugh gleefully, rubbing their hands, safe in the knowledge their tills will soon be ringing. case in point: these Jeffrey Campbells:

You may recall I blogged about them a while back. And, as you may be able to tell (if you're a foot pervert or just, like, obsessed with me or something), these are them on my feet. Oh yes, I found myself with a little spare cashola and I made the dream a reality. It's like freakin' X factor or something, isn't it? Without the sob story or looking like total freakazoid and having the voice of an angel stuff going on. I do enjoy a freaky person with an amazers voice. It makes you question all your preconceptions and judgements and that's a nice thing. Until you realise that you're judgemental and have all kinds of preconceived ideas and really you should probably wash your mouth and brain out with nasty caustic soap. Anyway, look how happy me and the shoes are. Woo!

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell @ Solestruck, Dress: Tesco, Shirt: Primark, Belt: H&M, Hairband: can't remember, badge: work
Jumpin'. So these are pair # 67. If you can't see what's awesome about them you're clearly blind. Or hate America so much you can't see past the design being like their flag. My feelings towards America are fairly neutral. Most people I've met there or from there are very nice and I shall judge it based on that. Ooh, except one girl who went out with a dude we knew. She was a massive douche. Still, see how I do not judge the rest of America on that basis #nonjudgemental. #noreally. Point being that I don't really give a crap about any flag and if you present me with a candy stripe heel and navy canvas upper resplendent with bold white star print, PLUS a fuck off platform and adorable t-bar all wrapped up in a totally comfy shoe, I am YOURS baby! Or you're mine. Whatever. Here they are again for your ogling pleasure. Brace yourself! I'm off to read some of my fave blogs!

I can confirm that every little does indeed help.

I don't trust Tesco particularly. They're too big and powerful for my liking plus, on account of my Clubcard, they know stuff about me. Like the extent of my addiction to premium ice cream at discounted prices (extensive). Yes, I know I could just not have/use one but the coupons you get from them are pretty useful as they freakishly use your info to guess what you want to buy. And you can sometimes trade the coupons for better stuff than just straight up using them as Tesco vouchers. And that's what I did last week. I traded £20 of Tesco coupons (which just sit in a pile unused in my house) for £40 to spend on their clothes. By now, I'm hoping you know I love my fashion maths and this sum goes as follows: "Coupons I don't otherwise use that I got just by getting my normal shopping" + "bonus double value trade in" = practically free clothes! Yes! I say practically free as I had to put £3 toward these dresses and pay postage. Pushing. The. Boat. Out.

Dress no1 plus Uniqlo leggings and Mel shoes from Schuh.

Can you make out the cute bow on the waist. It's like a magic eye puzzle! Maybe, if you stare hard enough, you'll see a naked man or something. Maybe not.

Dress no2 with Miss Selfridge belt and Irregular Choice shoes.

Irregular Choice Elvis. Freakin' awesome. If you don't think so, then you know NOTHING.

Dress 1 would have been £25 in real money and dress 2 would have been £18. And I have to tell you, I'm pleasantly surprised by both! The first is lined and has netting under the skirt for fullness, which I didn't expect from supermarket clothes, and I love the cute floral print, waist bow and Peter Pan collar. The 2nd dress is slightly less posh but beautifully pleated and the style is a versatile as you could wish for a dress to be. And all for about six quid. Roger that. (Apollo 13 is on in the background!).
