Dotty about shoes

I'm well jealous this evening. My pals are off to see the Charlatans and I couldn't afford a ticket. Boo! So here I am typing away instead, but, oh what a pleasure it is to be here. The shoes I'm wearing here (pair # 23) are from schuh, by Irregular Choice. Circa 2003 ish. Practically vintage, non? And as far as I'm concerned, they're one of the prettiest pairs I own!

So what's so good about them?

They manage to combine red and pink and still look good. I once had a pink t shirt with the outline of a lady in red (is dahn-cing with me!) with a big afro. It looked shit. Plus it was too short. So tragic.
They've got a frilly trim!
They're the perfect round toed shape
They have polka dots!

It's a shame the heel's been a wee bit munched by the mean cobbled streets of Edinburgh. It's just one of life's inevitability's - get nice new heels, wear them outside, catch them between paving stones.

Here's what I wore them with indoors (oh yes people - you're getting indoor AND outdoor looks! Aha! And don't even try to tell me that a little bit of wee didn't sneak out there in your excitement)

Look at me kidding on at being all demure. So, the shoes we know about (schuh, Irregular Choice, keep up!). Here's the chat on the rest...

Dress: Trollied Dolly (check out their new range - some ace stuff in there...)
Sparkly Lurex Cardi: George at Asda! It totally looks like something vintage though!
Leggings: Uniqlo

And here's the outdoor look (apologies for the slight 'dead person' look again)

What do you mean, "what's changed?"?! I've got a foxy aviator jacket on, of course! It's my bargain H&M one (£24.99 site says sold out I'm afraid) which, despite it's bargainousness is really cosy and doesn't look too plastic fantastic. However, if anyone wants to trade it for the Burberry, I will consider the request.

And one last shot of the shoes:

Final thought - is all the glitter and sparkle on Strictly giving anyone else that Christmassy feeling?

Seven, seven, SEVEN!!

Aw, I miss Friends. What a good show that was. I definitely think a film's a bad idea though. No, no, no. And if you can't figure out why I'm prattling on about Friends, then we can't be friends (please still keep reading my blog though - beggars can't be choosers and my audience, for now, is limited).

Anyway, the "sevens" are in celebration of the official documenting of the wearing of my 7th pair of shoes from my 95 pair strong collection. BUT, yet again, I've added to said collection and am up to 96 pairs, which means I STILL have 89 pairs left to wear. I'm such a douche.

So, the 7th pair are my trusty floral Birkenstocks courtesy of schuh. I feel like I'm wearing these bloody things all the time just now since we're actually getting some decent weather. Once it cools down and I get back in tights, the shoes will get more interesting. For now, I'm not prepared to go through rancid sweaty feet for anyone. No, not even those of you who got the Friends thing. And here's how I wore them...

Sandals: Birkenstock @schuh
Dress: Primark
Leggings: Uniqlo (yes, I've worn the dress and leggings before. What, d'you think I'm made of money or summat?)
Denim Shirt: H&M
Owl necklace: Primark

And, yes, thanks for noticing, that IS a sun tan on my feet. Been on my hols, innit. Remember, smart kids always use SPF!

Five Alive, 5 Star, 5ive and, perhaps best of all, High Five!

Yup, yup, yup, it's time for pair of shoes # 5 in my 'wear all 94 pairs of my shoes in one year' challenge. And after a day in scabby trainers yesterday, it's time to crank back up the glamour...

Yes, I'm pulling out the strappy leopard print wedges. Those words should tell you that these shoes are all kinds of stinkin' friggin' awesome! In fact, I've previously devoted a whole post to them, such is my adoration.

So what did I wear them with? Here it is:

Necklace: about 50p in the George Asda sale (did I mention I like tacky looking things?)

Amazing Leopard Wedges: £7.99 H&M. Have I mentioned how much I love these?

Bejewelled snake bracelet: around £3 from Primark (did I mention I like tacky things?)

Dress: Urban Outfitters
T-Shirt: Forever 21 - we so need these over here!
Leggings: M&S
Belt: Accessorize ages ago. I LOVE it!

Life in plastic, it's fantastic!

Today's (ok Friday's) shoes are right off the feet of Barbie. Not literally - Barbie's shoes would never fit my size 7s - it's more that I think she'd be happy trotting about in a pair, trying not to be overbalanced my her giheusterous (it's a word - see earlier Blog on my feelings about folk questioning my questionable words) boobs. Why? Simple: they're pink, patent, high and shiny, shiny, shiny!

These shoes are girly tack personified (shoesonified?). I enjoy embracing my tacky side from time to time and these shoes help me do just that. But here's the thing about tacky - it's a fine line between kitsch tack and just looking like a slut or, well, a Barbie doll. So here's how I dolled up my tacky shoes to keep 'em lower key...

Lordy, that egg on my foot (above pic) really is an egg where I kicked my desk earlier that day in an attempt to show my colleague that, being dressed in a denim shirt and leggings, I clearly hadn't moved on sartorially since I was 14. Or maybe I've come full circle. Anyway, the leg kick to show leggings resulted in an almighty whack.

Things I love about these shoes:
The slightly squared off toe
The concealed platform
The kinda naff stiletto heel
The high shine pink patent
That they're a wee bit like a coupla seasons back Stella McCartney
They're old season schuh

Sorry! Did I nearly have your eye out there with my usually modest bosoms?!

Belt: New Look (to pull it all together)
Skirt, (awesome animal forest scene) t-shirt and denim shirt: H&M (yes, the t-shirt may be considered to be 'busy' with the skirt but I love it)
Leggings: Uniqlo
Necklaces: Urban Outfitters and DIY (it's hard to see but the UO necklace is a pretty little bejewelled deer)

30 July 2010

Uh-huh, it's shoes number 2! 92 to go...

I did a bad. I got so excited by other stuff yesterday that I didn't post pair of shoes number 2 in my shoe based challenge. Bad, naughty! So here they are:

Dear Miss Selfridge, I'm here to gives thanks for these McFreakin' awesome shoes. Here's the credit roll:
Pink Suede
Concealed Platform
Chunky Heel (for quirk rather than tack)
Adorable black n white polka dot rosette
Peep Toe (right now anything that shows the leopard toes is a winner)

And here's the proof of me wearing them (if you didn't see me tottering around the office/streets of Edinburgh looking smug about my beautiful shoes). They're joined by uniqlo t dress and patterned leggings (I like these leggings cos they've got a bit more interest to them than plain black but they don't look entirely hideous on my chubby wee legs), gold lurex (have I ever mentioned that I LOVE lurex? Gift me with it and I'll love you...) cardi from either Toppers or Primarni, and a purdy pink perspex star necklace from Punky Pins. Once again, demonstrating my appreciation of the slouchy look. Can you tell I'm not an ironer?
